About.

Founded in 1997, The Orchard operates globally as an independent music and video distribution company. Head quartered in New York, they have offices across the world including an office in London.

Expansion of the London office dictated a move to a new office in Kings Cross, London. At the same time they needed to upgrade their telephony system to accommodate more users and to provide more advanced features than their existing system.

Requirement.

The Orchard approached Unifi to help with their move to their new office in Kings Cross, London.  They needed to modernise their existing system that was outdated and didn’t meet their requirements as a dynamic, growing business.

They needed to collaborate across their business, with tools to allow effective mobile and remote working and retain their existing numbers. With a small internal IT team they also needed a system that staff found easy to use but allowed them to do their work more effectively with advanced collaboration features.

Solution.

As an existing supplier, Unifi understood The Orchard’s business and were able to design a new solution perfectly matched for their business requirements. Unifi installed a voice over IP solution based on Cisco Business Edition 6000. This is an all in one solution that solved all The Orchard communication requirements. 

Business Edition 6000 is purpose-built for small and midsize businesses with industry-leading Cisco Unified Communications Manager. With Cisco Communications Manager providing call control The Orchard have all the comprehensive unified communications capabilities including voice and video calling, voicemail, messaging and presence, contact centre, and mobility that they need.

All employees have a Cisco 8841 IP Phone that connect back to the Cisco Business Edition 6000 via a Cisco 2960 power over Ethernet switch. Cisco 8832 IP Conference Phones are used in the meeting room to provide superior wideband voice and microphone quality for conference calls.

With up to 25 calls being made at any one time, Unifi have provided a SIP Trunk for all calls into and out of the office. The monthly rental savings being made from using SIP over ISDN30 alone allow the system to pay for itself in less than 2-years. As a global company, The Orchard also make a lot of international calls so further savings are made due to the very competitive call rates available from SIP. By using a SIP Trunk, Unifi were also able to port The Orchard’s existing number to the new system, which saved the expense of producing new marketing material with new numbers. Unifi have also provisioned new direct dial numbers for all employees.

All users have advanced voicemail features through Cisco’s Unity Connection product.

Due to the importance of the phone system to their business, The Orchard also takes advantage of Unifi’s managed services. This provides The Orchard with the peace of mind that if something does go wrong, Unifi’s experts are on hand to proactively resolve any issues quickly so there is minimal impact on the continued success of their business.
